In 2008, a mysterious story was posted anonymously to the popular image sharing website

Despite having only 42 words, it spread like wildfire throughout the Internet and its impact can be felt online even today, over a decade later. Now this chilling story hits the film world with WHO WAS PHONE?, a Horror/Comedy based on the viral sensation; a Parody Movie that pays homage to the viral videos and memes that the Internet has made famous.

After witnessing the brutal murder of her boyfriend from mere inches away, college student Fiona Stephens and her friends desperately try to unmask a hatchet-wielding killer, all the while struggling to escape his murderous grasp. Their only clue – a phone call received moments before the murder; the menacing voice on the other end belonging to Fiona’s father – a man who died years prior!

WHO WAS PHONE? is the world’s first Internet Parody Movie, weaving together 70+ Internet references to form a modern day paranormal slasher. While only true Internet junkies will catch every reference, most are the iconic videos and memes that dominate social media, featuring legendary characters like Techno VikingScumbag SteveBad Luck BrianIdiot Nerd Girl and Epic Beard Man, as well as guy shoots himself in the footguy swallows bugguy tases himself and many more.

Written and directed by the Daan Brothers, WHO WAS PHONE? was produced with a micro-budget of under $15,000 and features an ensemble cast of talented newcomers, including Kelly Voke, Dan McCurry, Hayley Himmelman, Chad Moseley, Emily Richter, Sammy Ketcham, Stephen George, Dave Perez, Jason Kwidd, Brian Barber, and Michael Valenti. Producers are David Daan and Anne-Catherine Daan. Executive Producers are Steve Daan, Brian Young, and Dan McCurry.  Soundtrack was composed by Patrick Stallone.
