Scituate Salt Cave, The “First And Only Himalayan Salt Cave” Of Scituate, MA Brings A New Restorative Space For Health And Wellness

December 13 21:12 2021

Scituate, MA – The beautiful South Shore of Massachusetts can now add “first and only Himalayan salt cave” to its descriptors with the October 2021 opening of the Scituate Salt Cave in Scituate.

Owner Cristina Curreri wanted to bring the salt cave experience to her hometown after visiting another salt cave and recognizing its beauty and power. Noting that Scituate Salt Cave actually contains two separate caves—a large cave, Virgo, holding up to 12 guests, and Crux, a smaller cave for smaller groups—Curreri explained that “not only are our caves works of art, but they are also therapeutic.”

Scituate Salt Cave is built with 30,000 pounds of Himalayan salt, the unique pink-hued salt that is heralded for its antiviral, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties.  Guests to the cave wear comfortable clothing and sit in zero gravity chairs for 45-minute sessions where they absorb the minerals from the salt.

Halotherapy, or “salt therapy,” has been used for over a hundred years in Poland and other parts of Europe and Asia and is believed to help with respiratory conditions, skin conditions, heart and blood pressure issues, and more. With a growing body of scientific research to support these beliefs, guests will immediately benefit from the relaxation aspects offered by the combination of the salt, the rustic decor, the soothing lighting, and the soft music.

The Scituate caves were designed by Dr. Margaret Smiechowski, North America’s foremost expert on Himalayan Salt. “I love every cave I build, but there is something quite special about these caves, Scituate, and Cristina. I know that guests will love this experience.” Dr. Smiechowski’s design business, Salt Cave, Inc, has built dozens of salt caves since 2007.

In addition to relaxation sessions, guests can experience a wide array of offerings at Scituate Salt Cave as well, including ionic foot baths, Reiki, yoga, classes, and workshops in holistic wellness.

Curreri noted that as the world comes out of the COVID-19 pandemic, she hopes that her facility will play a role in the individual and community healing necessary. “The arrival of Scituate Salt Cave brings a much-needed way to relieve stress and soothe the soul while the healing properties of Halotherapy naturally treat symptoms of many upper respiratory issues, especially those of the Covid-19 long haulers.”
