Casa grande, Arizona – December 20, 2021 – As a former active duty service member in the U.S. Navy, Maverick Kang Jr. could have chosen defense or law enforcement jobs like his retired colleagues. But, it was his passion for acting and combat sports that steered him to the entertainment industry and today the American actor and stunt performer is one of the most renowned names in the South Asian film and TV commercial industries.
From growing up in a small town in Hawaii to becoming an active member in the US military to dominating the screens and stunts today, Mav’s journey has been anything but smooth all these years. And it started with his very hometown only. The Hawaii town where he grew up kind of prevents the inhabitants from leaving.
But Maverick Kang Jr. knows he has big dreams and that he wants a king size big life beyond the traditional 9-5 job and 40-hour work week. He also knew he would be facing strong resistance from his hometown and that he has to take a huge risk if he has to fulfill his dreams. It took him a lot of strength and determination to push through the geographical and psychological limitations but he finally managed to move overseas to a foreign country and start a new life and pursue new passions.
Cut to 2021, Mav now stays at Bangkok, Thailand, and pursues a rising career there in acting and modeling. Added to the Thai film industry, Mav has also worked as a stunt performer in the Indian film industry. He has earned applause for his amazing work in Kotigobba 3 and Netflix film Finding ‘Ohana. Both the movies were released this year. Mav has also worked in another Indian film “RRR” which is scheduled to be released in 2022. A multi-starrer with an A-listed ensemble cast, “RRR” is speculated to be one of the biggest releases of 2022 in India.
While asked about his passion for acting and stunts, Maverick Kang Jr. mentioned his extensive background in action and combat sports. The popular actor started learning as well as competing in the Motocross races from a bare age of 3. At the age of 13, he began his training in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. He is also trained in skydiving and scuba diving.
“I have always been drawn to action and combat sports since an early age. And it was my love for all the action stunts and adventures that drew me into stunts and acting”, stated Mav.
Mav forayed into acting and modeling professionally in Southeast Asia in 2019. His promising acting prowess and maverick stunt skills soon came to the notice of the big wigs in the entertainment industry and Mav was showered with offers from the biggest of brands like – Suunto Thailand, Vivobarefoot, Xion, and more.
Recently, Maverick Kang Jr. was seen in some of the most high-profile TV commercials, including Level Infinite Game, ByBit Crypto, Cold-EEZE, and so on. Mav has also graced the screen for Oppo Reno Pro 3, Huawei, Nestle, Centara Hotels, and more.
