LEADWomen announces their first conference in the Middle East after a decade of pioneering women’s leadership and development training

June 25 05:02 2019
With more women than ever entering the workplace and striving towards professional success, CEO of LEADWomen, Sophie Said calls for more to be done to support women in business and inspire them to LEAD.

Dubai, U.A.E – LEADWomen, will launch the Middle East’s first “Leadership, Empowerment And Happiness” Conference in Dubai, following over a decade of training some of the region’s most influential women and equipping them with the skills for the changing business landscape in which they operate.

Inspired by the incredible initiatives launched by the U.A.E Government, LEADWomen will bring together over 500 women from around the world over two days in December, to discuss issues that affect them in their professional and personal lives.

Due to a series of initiatives in the public and private sector, the U.A.E and many other countries are making progress with encouraging women to take a more active role within a variety of sectors. The U.A.E has had considerable success with the recently launched Gender Balance Council in 2017, which has played a significant role in furthering the role of Emirati women in society, while a royal directive was also issued stating that the Federal National Council must have 50 per cent female representation.

Despite this, there is still more that can be done to help women enter in to the workforce. Providing women with the option to enter the workforce is not only beneficial to society, but also to the wider economy. According to PwC, $575bn is lost a year in the MENA region alone due to legal & social barriers that exist for women’s access to jobs. Encouraging women into the workforce can provide access to previously untapped pools of talent and innovation. However, to do this, we need to change the mindset of not only women, but those leading the organisations.

Commenting on research undertaken by LEADWomen, Sophie Said, CEO revealed that:

“With over a decade’s worth of insight and experience, we have found that our clients – Women from across the Middle East and Africa face strikingly similar setbacks. They are highly educated – with over 70% of women in the U.A.E alone holding tertiary education degrees. Yet despite this they are not present in the boardroom. We have looked at the reasons why, and for many women it is because they haven’t been provided with the support in their personal and professional lives to actually be present. We hope to change the perception of working women and instill in them the confidence to aspire for more, and take inspiration from the incredible cohort of women who will be attending our conference in December.”

The increased momentum across the region needs to be fostered, and LEADWomen will be partnering with voices that support this movement. Led by some of the region’s most influential women from all areas of business, government, science and healthcare, the LEADWomen

Conference will ensure that many of the issues preventing women from succeeding are not only addressed but answered.
