Elk Grove, CA – May 12, 2021 – Students from the Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) participate annually in the Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium (SEVA) contest and for the 2021 SEVAs, EGUSD had the most submissions, with 213 videos being sent into the contest for review. In total 595 videos were submitted for consideration with a 2021 SEVA Entry Form. This year, in addition to the 2021 SEVA Awards, special recognition was also given to students who speak to “Defining 2020” in their video submission.
The 2021 SEVA Contest challenged students to submit work in one of five categories; Creative Expression, Documentary, Instructional, Public Service Announcements or School News. Judges then went through each category and selected a winner for each age group. Students’ submissions that stood out were also awarded an honorable mention for their great work.
SEVA is a great organization in the area that strives to provide quality educational resources to learners of all ages in the greater Sacramento community primarily through video and other information and communication technologies via cable systems and networks. Each year SEVA hosts a video contest for students in different school districts throughout the Sacramento Region. Students outside of Sacramento county can also enter the contest for a fee of $10.
The SEVA students who won in their respective categories this year were recognized at the 2021 SEVA Awards event. The event was hosted virtually and paid tribute to students whose work stood out among the competition.
EGUSD is proud of the amazing work of its students and the support provided by teachers and staff. In the District, creativity plays a key role in education, and Elk Grove Unified is happy to see that shine through in their student’s efforts.
