His contributions are recognized by the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission, the apex regulatory agency of the Capital Market and Securitization in Nigeria, as they invited him to serve as a member of the advisory committee to the board on rules making. In that capacity, “he assisted the understanding of many complex Capital Market and Securitization issues. He initiated standard but novel concepts to the Financial Market and encouraged market dynamism and regulatory adeptness. According to the Nigerian SEC, “he was a member of the Investment Security Bill (ISB) drafting committee and demonstrated understanding and expertise in the different subject areas of the Capital Market.” The Nigerian SEC found him resourceful on transactional issues and market regulatory initiatives and characterized him as “passionate about financial literacy awareness and the development of resource allocation skills.”
Prior to his tenure with the Nigerian SEC, he acted as a consultant for the Nigerian National Assembly, enhancing the legislative comprehension of the financial market. Specifically, he served as the lead consultant for the Senate Committee on Capital Market, where he developed the 2017 Capital Market conference concept and provided guidance on the demutualization of The Nigerian Stock Exchange and other noteworthy achievements..
As the CEO of GWMI, he launched a campaign for financial market reform in Nigeria and brought stakeholders together in a consensus on general reform areas, including recommendations for a new Investment and Securities Law(ISL).
At the moment, he is surveying the harmonization of the capital market in the West African region. He has also submitted a proposal to the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI) as part of their market harmonization plan.
Mr. Osazuwa graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree (LL. B) from the University of Benin and began his professional career. He later pursued an MBA from Saint Mary’s University and obtained a master’s degree in law (LL.M) from Emory University School of Law. He earned another LL.M. in financial service law from the New York Law School (NYLS) as part of his thesis study. Currently, Mr. Osazuwa is a doctoral candidate in juridical science (SJD) at the Golden Gate University School of Law.
